It began as a minor argument on a narrow street in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sur Baher and ended in a violent incident that froze passersby in place. One driver told another he was blocking the road – but the man pulled a knife, chased him, and tried to stab him. Witnesses intervened before tragedy struck. Police said the suspect would soon face indictment for what they called an alarming act of road violence in Jerusalem.
Road Rage Incident in Sur Baher
According to Israel Police, a man in his twenties from East Jerusalem was arrested after allegedly attempting to stab another driver during a traffic dispute in Sur Baher. Investigators found that the suspect stopped his car in the middle of the road, blocking traffic, and when another driver confronted him, he pulled a knife, threatened him, and caused injuries to his hand.
Additional suspects joined the attack, throwing a wooden ladder and a power drill at the victim and damaging his vehicle. Bystanders managed to separate them until officers from the Oz police station arrived and made arrests.
After an intensive investigation, prosecutors filed a pre-indictment statement against the main suspect, with formal charges expected soon. Police called it a severe act of aggression reflecting the growing violence on Israel’s roads, urging drivers in Jerusalem and across the country to stay calm and responsible.
