A disturbing incident took place in Abu Ghosh, near Jerusalem: footage circulating online showed a young man urinating on the wall of a mosque, as laughter and cheers were heard in the background. The act caused outrage among residents and prompted an immediate response from the Jerusalem District Police

Abu Ghosh arrest after mosque desecration video

Once the report reached the police, intensive investigative and intelligence efforts began to identify and track the suspect. On Thursday morning, shortly after his identity became known, the 20-year-old from a nearby village was arrested by patrol officers from the Harel station of the Zion subdistrict. He was taken in for questioning on charges of religious insult and conduct likely to disturb public peace, and police announced he will be brought before court later in the day

In the police statement it was written: “This is a disgraceful and shameful act that deserves every condemnation. There will be no patience or tolerance toward anyone who commits acts of hatred against others. We will act against every incident of violence toward religious institutions, clerics, and in general. Such cases will receive our full operational attention, and every offender should know that the long arm of the police will reach every suspect wherever he may be
