The road leading into Jerusalem carries its own rhythm. In the late afternoon sun, when the light hits the stone walls and dust hangs low in the air, the traffic moves as usual – until it doesn’t. A single car halts, officers rush from unmarked vehicles, commands echo through the tunnel, and within seconds the calm turns cinematic.
Jerusalem’s Fight Against Drug Trafficking
Behind the dramatic footage stands an operation by detectives from the Shafat and Harel stations of the Jerusalem District Police. They had been tracking a man in his twenties from Neve Yaakov, suspected of traveling south to buy dangerous drugs and smuggle them back into the city. After careful preparation, the vehicle was stopped in a tunnel near Jerusalem’s entrance, and the detectives conducted a court-authorized search.
Hidden under the upholstery of the passenger seat, officers uncovered a small, well-concealed compartment. Inside were packets of cocaine and pills suspected to be ecstasy. The driver was arrested on the spot and taken for questioning at the Shafat station.
Police officials described the operation as part of an ongoing campaign to curb the distribution of dangerous drugs in Jerusalem. “The fight against drug trafficking continues with zero tolerance,” the statement said. “We will keep acting decisively to locate and prosecute those involved in the trade and transport of such substances.”
