On the morning after the threatening incident that occurred overnight, a clearer picture is emerging from the impact site on one of Jerusalem’s central roads. A direct hit by a weapon fragment caused damage to infrastructure and nearby vehicles, and six people were evacuated with varying degrees of injuries.

Large forces from the Israel Police and the Israel Border Police operated at the scene throughout the night, alongside bomb disposal experts and emergency responders, in order to remove risks and secure the area. Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Avshalom Peled and Border Police Jerusalem Commander Commander Shimon Dahan conducted a situational assessment on site and directed the continued handling of the scene until all threats were cleared.

The Jerusalem District Police said:
“During the night, a direct impact was identified on one of the city’s central roads. District officers, Border Police fighters and police sappers operated at the scene to eliminate risk, conduct scans and secure the area. We call on the public to avoid arriving at or gathering in impact zones and to allow security and rescue forces to complete their work safely.”

What was revealed at the Jerusalem impact scene the next morning?

With first light, the extent of the damage became more visible: a damaged section of roadway, scattered debris and vehicles affected by the blast. The road was intermittently closed, and traffic was diverted to alternative routes until safety inspections were completed.

Police emphasize that even hours after such an incident, hazardous fragments or suspicious items may still be present. The public is therefore urged to act responsibly, stay away from impact zones and follow officers’ instructions on the ground.

Jerusalem wakes up to a tense reality, where an ordinary central road can turn overnight into an emergency scene, and daily movement through the city is accompanied by heightened alertness and caution.
