Dozens of people joined a heartfelt prayer in Jerusalem today (Wednesday) to honor the memory of Charlie Kirk, a prominent American conservative and strong supporter of Israel who was murdered last week in the United States. The event was initiated by the organization “Beyadenu – for the Temple Mount,” led by former Member of Knesset Yehuda Glick, himself a survivor of an assassination attempt in October 2014 by a Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant.
Special prayer on the Temple Mount
Participants gathered at the Mughrabi Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City, where Yehuda Glick delivered remarks in memory of Kirk. As the group entered the Temple Mount, the prayer began and continued with songs along the designated path for visitors ascending to the Mount.
Charlie Kirk was a devout Christian, but the timing of the event was chosen with great respect for Jewish tradition, marking the day after the seven-day mourning period. Part of the ceremony was conducted in English and broadcast live by Beyadenu, enabling Kirk’s supporters in the United States to join virtually.
Linking Jerusalem and the United States
Charlie Kirk was known as a conservative political activist and one of the most outspoken supporters of former President Donald Trump. He was recognized as a true friend of Israel, often voicing strong advocacy for the Jewish state. His work focused on promoting conservative values, especially among students and on university campuses.
The assassination that claimed his life occurred on September 10, 2025, during a lecture at Utah Valley University, where he was addressing a large audience. The main suspect, Tyler James Robinson, a 22-year-old, was handed over to authorities by his father. The motives are not yet fully clear, though evidence suggests the attack may have been connected to Kirk’s stance against the LGBTQ community.
