At approximately 16:10, sirens were heard across Jerusalem following a missile launch from Iran. Shortly afterward, emergency calls were received by police reporting a loud explosion near the Jewish Quarter in the Old City.

Police forces from the David District of the Jerusalem Police, along with bomb disposal experts and Border Police units, quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and began collecting evidence while conducting scans for additional debris.

How unusual is a strike involving missile debris carrying dozens of kilograms of explosives in Jerusalem?

Jerusalem District Commander, Commander Avshalom Peled, arrived at the scene and received a detailed briefing from the bomb disposal officer regarding the nature of the missile and the warhead, which contained dozens of kilograms of explosive material. The findings will be transferred for further examination in police laboratories.

Commander Peled stated: “This is the third time during this campaign that weapons containing large amounts of explosives have fallen in Jerusalem, near the Old City and holy sites. The enemy does not distinguish between a mosque, synagogue, or church.”

According to him, due to the risk, holy sites remain closed in order to protect human life.

What are the public safety instructions following impact sites in Jerusalem?

Police urge the public to follow safety instructions, avoid approaching impact or damage sites, not to touch fragments or interception debris, and allow security and rescue forces to carry out their work.
