The Jerusalem March 2025 is not only a local celebration but one of the largest cultural events during Sukkot in Israel. Each year tens of thousands of participants – Jerusalem residents, families from across the country, and visitors from abroad – walk together along city trails and natural landscapes. The march has become a cultural symbol, combining community spirit, family recreation and international tourism.
Walking routes in Jerusalem – from the Old City to Sacher Park
The Jerusalem March 2025 takes place on Thursday, October 9, from early morning until the afternoon. The event offers three main routes that highlight both urban and natural landmarks:
-
10 km for experienced hikers – from Rotem Lookout through Nahal Refaim Park to Sacher Park.
-
8 km medium route – via the Valley of the Gazelles, Israel Museum and the Knesset.
-
5 km family route – starting at Safra Square, passing Jaffa Gate, Yemin Moshe and Rehavia, ending at Sacher Park.
Along the way, participants encounter live music ensembles, refreshment stations and family-friendly activity points.
Sacher Park – the heart of family celebrations
All three routes converge at Sacher Park, which becomes a vibrant festival ground between 10:00 and 16:00. Street performances, children’s workshops and creative stands turn the park into a cultural hub for families. At 12:30, popular singer Moshe Peretz headlines the main stage, adding a festive highlight to the day.

Jerusalem on the map of international walking festivals
Across the world, large-scale walks attract crowds – Zurich’s annual march in Switzerland, the Valkenburg walks in the Netherlands, and spring parades in France. The Jerusalem March 2025 now stands proudly alongside these events, offering something unique: trails that combine Jerusalem’s green spaces with UNESCO heritage sites such as the Old City. The blend of history, nature and the spirit of Sukkot transforms the march into a global cultural attraction, reinforcing Jerusalem’s role as both a national capital and an international city of culture.
