During an operational activity by Border Police forces around Jerusalem, a suspect was arrested today, Wednesday, a resident of the village of Beit Duqqu, suspected of throwing a Molotov cocktail in August 2025 at forces operating along the security route near the a-Tira area, north of Jerusalem.
According to police, during the incident last August Border Police fighters were operating in the area as part of routine security activity. At a certain point, the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail toward the forces. The fighters responded with gunfire and the suspect was wounded during the incident.
How was the suspect located months after the Jerusalem incident?
The investigation was conducted by the Investigations and Intelligence Branch of the Border Police around Jerusalem. As part of intelligence activity that continued in the months following the incident, investigators managed to trace the suspect’s identity and narrow down his location.
At that stage, forces from the northern battalion of the Border Police around Jerusalem launched an arrest operation.
Where was the suspect from Beit Duqqu arrested?
The forces first arrived at the suspect’s home in the village of Beit Duqqu near Jerusalem. After it became clear he was not there, the forces continued efforts to locate him and carried out additional searches.
He was eventually located at his workplace in the village and arrested by the forces. The arrest operation also included the fighter who carried out the shooting during the August incident.
Israel Police said: “In August 2025, the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail toward Border Police forces operating along the security route near the a-Tira area. During the incident, the forces responded with gunfire and the suspect was wounded. Today, following intelligence direction by the Investigations and Intelligence Branch of the Border Police around Jerusalem, fighters from the northern battalion operated to arrest him in the village of Beit Duqqu, where he was located and arrested at his workplace.”
