A 15-year-old boy fell from several floors in Beit Shemesh on Friday and was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Medical teams reported that he sustained multi-system injuries. The hospital has not yet released an updated statement regarding his condition.

Police said that “an investigation into the circumstances has begun,” and officers from the Beit Shemesh station of the Jerusalem District documented the scene and collected initial findings.

Emergency responders from MDA and the volunteer organization Tzevet Hatzolah were dispatched to Rabbi Elazar Street in the city. Volunteers David Shainer and Shlomo Herman said:
“When we arrived, we found the teenager lying on the ground, unconscious, after falling from approximately four floors. He suffered severe multi-system trauma. Together with additional MDA paramedics and medics, we provided initial treatment that included assisted ventilation, stabilizations and bandaging. He was then transported by an intensive care ambulance to Shaare Zedek Medical Center while in serious and unstable condition.”

Falls from height in residential buildings

Falls from height are among the leading causes of severe injury among children and teenagers in Israel. According to data from the organization “Beterem,” hundreds of such cases are recorded annually, often during routine activity at home. Safety experts recommend installing window restrictors, protective bars or safety nets, and ensuring that furniture that can be climbed on is not placed near windows. Awareness efforts are especially emphasized in dense urban areas with high-rise buildings, including Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh.
