Jerusalem often moves between calm and tension, but damage to the mayor’s car during an ordinary nighttime drive gave tonight’s report a sharper edge. According to the initial information, a stone hit the car carrying Mayor Moshe Lion while traveling on Avinoam Yellin Street, an area that has recently seen friction involving public officials.

What happened to the mayor’s car?

Police said the moving car was struck and its windshield damaged, though no injuries were reported. Officers from the Lev HaBira station were dispatched immediately and began wide searches across the surrounding streets.

Investigators reviewed the route, checked available security footage and gathered statements from residents and businesses to construct a full picture of the event.

Was the incident directed at the mayor?

At this stage, police have not determined whether the stone was thrown intentionally at the mayor’s car or whether it forms part of a broader pattern of recent tensions in the city. Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active.

A spokesperson for the Jerusalem District Police said: “A full investigation is underway and officers are working to identify those involved.”

Jerusalem once again finds itself balancing its daily rhythm with moments that expose the city’s persistent underlying strain.
