Between the hills west of Jerusalem, in a village famed for hospitality and hummus, police officers from the Jerusalem District encountered a very different story. During a joint operation by Harel detectives, Border Police K9 units, and the Military Police, officers uncovered extensive combat equipment hidden inside a reservist’s car and home. His explanation was disarming: “I’m in reserve duty – I didn’t want to leave it in the vehicle.”

According to police, the court-authorized search revealed three Airsoft pistols, one live handgun, 74 magazines, hundreds of rounds in various calibers, helmets, vests, and military uniforms. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Military Police for further investigation into the source of the weapons. Police emphasized that possession of such equipment constitutes a serious offense, even without criminal intent.
Jerusalem District officials added that joint operations continue across the region to locate and seize illegal weapons and ammunition. “We will keep working to ensure that combat gear remains in the hands of authorized security forces,” they said.
