The case has drawn attention among police investigators in the capital, not because of violence or theft of valuables, but because of the sheer audacity involved. A man in his sixties broke into a private home in Jerusalem and behaved as though he lived there, moving freely through the rooms while the residents were inside.
After entering the property, he used the bathroom and then took a shower without interruption. He did not rush or attempt to remain hidden. Instead, he continued his movements deeper into the residence, eventually stepping into one of the bedrooms where a young resident was awake at the time.
Break-In at a Jerusalem Apartment
According to the indictment filed by the Jerusalem District Prosecution Unit, the man entered the apartment in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood. The family members were inside and unaware that a stranger had made his way into the home. Rather than searching for money or valuables, he took his time using the facilities and exploring the space.
Investigators say his actions did not reflect panic or desperation, but a disturbing sense of entitlement. The lack of hesitation and the nature of his behavior led police to describe the incident as unusually brazen, even compared to other residential break-ins in the city.
The Shirt and the Bedroom Incident
After finishing in the shower, the intruder entered a bedroom where a minor was awake in bed. He opened her wardrobe and took a distinctive shirt that had been prepared for an upcoming military beret march of a family member. Once the girl realized a stranger was in the room, she shouted for her father, causing the man to flee the apartment with the shirt in his possession.
Police officers from the Moriah station responded quickly and launched searches in the surrounding streets. The suspect was located nearby still carrying the shirt, and was arrested on the spot.
Indictment and Custody
The man was taken into custody and later brought before a judge, who extended his detention. An indictment was filed against him for burglary and theft, along with a request to keep him in custody until the legal proceedings conclude. Authorities emphasized that the intrusion into a child’s room, combined with the unauthorized use of the household facilities, places this case beyond an ordinary property offense.

A Breach of Privacy That Leaves a Mark
Even without physical harm, an incident of this kind can leave residents unsettled long after the arrest. The idea of a stranger showering in one’s home, moving through private spaces and taking clothing from a family member’s room, strikes at the core sense of safety that a home is meant to provide.
