The shock was enormous this week at the Qalandiya crossing near Jerusalem: guards noticed a vehicle stopping at the post, and only when they approached did they discover a 13-year-old boy behind the wheel. Burglary tools and technological devices were found in the car, leading to his immediate arrest

The vehicle driven by the boy had been stolen from the town of Mevasseret Zion. When the guards saw the smashed window, they immediately alerted a Jerusalem District officer stationed at the crossing. The officer approached the car and carried out the arrest on the spot, realizing that the driver was just a child

A search of the car revealed a bag containing unique burglary tools alongside an advanced technological device. Police estimate that the equipment had been used in other theft attempts, strengthening suspicions of repeated criminal activity rather than a one-time incident

Suspected in thefts near Jerusalem

Investigators indicated that earlier the same morning, the 13-year-old had already been involved in another case – an attempted theft and car theft in a community near Jerusalem. The suspect was taken to the Harel police station in the Zion Subdistrict for questioning and will later be brought before court for a remand hearing

Police emphasized that the vigilance of the guards at the Qalandiya crossing and the swift response of Jerusalem District officers enabled this unusual arrest, despite the suspect’s very young age
