New footage from last night near Jerusalem’s central station captures a brief but troubling moment that has become a recurring pattern on the city’s public transport. The video shows a 15 year old boarding a service bus, forcefully removing the emergency hammer and stepping off through the rear door. Seconds later he shatters the bus window, startling nearby passengers. Officers from the Lev HaBira motorcycle unit, operating in the area, quickly located him and made the arrest.
Is the wave of violence on Jerusalem’s public transport getting worse?
Police say the incident joins a growing list of recent cases involving damage to buses, attempts to harm drivers and objects thrown during rides. Some suspects were caught in real time, others through camera footage.
Jerusalem District Police stated: “We will continue operating openly and covertly to stop violence against public transport and pursue criminal proceedings against all involved, including minors.”
