Jerusalem is facing another night of tragedy. In the southern neighborhood of Gilo, a man opened fire on his ex-wife, both about 25 years old, before turning the weapon on himself. Paramedics from Magen David Adom performed resuscitation efforts, but both were later declared dead in hospital. The incident comes only days after the deadly terrorist shooting at Ramot junction, where six people were murdered by two Palestinian gunmen illegally present in Israel.<\/p>\n
At 19:58, Magen David Adom\u2019s 101 dispatch center received a report of gunfire in Gilo. Emergency teams arrived within minutes and found the two victims unconscious with penetrating wounds. “We arrived to a horrific scene. The man was in extremely serious condition, intubated and ventilated while bleeding was controlled, and the woman was critical, without a pulse, so we performed advanced resuscitation,” said medics Yisrael Meir Gershoni and Sapir Turgeman. Both were evacuated to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals, where their deaths were confirmed.<\/p>\n
Large police forces cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence and testimonies. According to initial assessments, the man shot his ex-wife and then committed suicide.
