Israeli police forces raided on Friday, shortly after the stabbing attack at the hotel in Kibbutz Tzuba near Jerusalem, the home of the attacker, Mohammad Shawamreh (Abu Dubai), in the Shuafat refugee camp in the north of the city. The forces arrested his brother and searched the house, seizing materials and technological devices.<\/p>\n

As police forces arrived at the attacker\u2019s home, a suspect tried to flee, was shot, and taken to hospital. According to Palestinians, another man who happened to pass by in his car was also injured by a stray bullet that penetrated his vehicle. Footage circulated online showed the wounded lying on the road at the scene.<\/p>\n

The police operation was disrupted by rioters from among Shuafat residents, forcing the forces to use crowd dispersal measures, including tear gas.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Israel Police said: \u201cFollowing the stabbing attack at the hotel in Kibbutz Tzuba \u2013 within a short time, undercover Border Police officers from Jerusalem, Border Police forces from the Jerusalem envelope and the Internal Security Division, detectives from the central unit of the Jerusalem District and the Shin Bet raided the terrorist\u2019s house in the Shuafat refugee camp in Jerusalem. During the forces\u2019 closure on the house, a suspect attempted to escape and was shot by the fighters. The suspect was evacuated for medical treatment in hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement further added: \u201cThe forces conducted a search and seized materials and technological means. In addition, they arrested the attacker\u2019s brother. All findings and detainees were taken for further investigation at the central unit of the Jerusalem District. During the operation, dozens of suspects disturbed the order, threw stones, and hurled a pipe bomb at the fighters, who responded with riot control means.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stabbing attack at the Tzuba hotel<\/h3>\n

As recalled, on Friday afternoon the attacker Shawamreh, 43, who worked in the hotel kitchen in Kibbutz Tzuba as a contractor, burst into the dining room armed with a knife and began stabbing hotel guests. Two of those present were injured \u2013 one seriously and the other moderately \u2013 and were evacuated to hospital.
