{"id":149439,"date":"2026-01-14T07:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T05:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jerusalem-online.co.il\/?p=149439"},"modified":"2026-01-13T11:57:27","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T09:57:27","slug":"17-months-in-prison-is-it-inherited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jerusalem-online.co.il\/en\/17-months-in-prison-is-it-inherited\/","title":{"rendered":"17 Months in Prison \u2013 Is It Inherited?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Jerusalem Magistrate\u2019s Court on Monday sentenced Tasnim Odeh to 17 months in prison after convicting her of incitement to terrorism and identification with a terror organization (Hamas), following a series of posts she published on social media platforms TikTok and Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Odeh, 23, a resident of the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem and a law student at Al-Quds University, is the daughter of Barakat Musa Odeh, a militant who was killed in October 2022 during a vehicular ramming attack at the Nabi Musa junction in the Jordan Valley, in which five Israeli soldiers were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Odeh has been in custody since December 2024, she is expected to be released from prison on April 5, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How was the incitement carried out on social media?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The indictment filed by the Jerusalem District Prosecutor\u2019s Office detailed multiple instances in which Odeh praised militants and expressed support for terrorist acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July 2024, shortly after the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, who headed the Hamas organization, Odeh published a Facebook post stating: \u201cWe pledge allegiance to you, Abu Ibrahim, we pledge allegiance to you.\u201d The post included images of Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar and expressed loyalty to them as leaders of Hamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2024, following the death of Mohammed Zubeidi, the son of militant Zakaria Zubeidi \u2013 one of the security prisoners who escaped from Gilboa Prison through a tunnel \u2013 Odeh published a TikTok post in which she said: \u201cToday I turn my eyes to the father of the martyr, who spent and devoted his life to imprisonment.\u201d The post included images of Zakaria Zubeidi and praised him as a \u201cmartyr.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One day after the killing of Yahya Sinwar in October 2024, Odeh published another TikTok post stating: \u201cEven if he ascended to the heavens, he achieved what he aspired to and worked for.\u201d In an additional quote in the same post, she wrote: \u201cGlory belongs to those who die amid gunfire. Shame will come to every despairing and doubtful person.\u201d The post praised Sinwar and glorified death \u201cfor the cause.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Could she be expelled from Jerusalem after serving her sentence?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In February 2025, Interior Minister Moshe Arbel announced his intention to expel Tasnim Odeh from Jerusalem due to her incitement and identification with terror organizations, subject to a formal hearing.
