The cycling event, now in its 12th year, will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, starting from the First Station complex in the city.

The ride is designed not only for professional cyclists, but also for families, children, amateur riders and visitors who want to experience Jerusalem from a different angle. Participants will be able to choose from four routes: 50 kilometers, 30 kilometers, 15 kilometers and a shorter 8-kilometer family route.

According to the Jerusalem Municipality, the routes will pass through some of the city’s most recognizable areas and surrounding landscapes: around the Old City walls, the City of David National Park, Emek Tzurim, Mount Scopus, Nahal Tzofim, Nahal Sorek Park, Cedar Park, the Jerusalem Hills, Aminadav Forest, Lavan Ridge, the Gihon Tunnel, the Biblical Zoo and the Railway Park.

What makes Sovev Jerusalem such a unique ride?

Sovev Jerusalem is considered the largest cycling event in Israel, but its uniqueness is not only in the number of participants. It connects city, nature and history, allowing riders to move within a short time between very different Jerusalem landscapes: ancient walls, green parks, forests, climbs, descents and urban neighborhoods.

The event will begin early in the morning. Gathering at the First Station complex will start at 5:00 a.m. The 50-kilometer route will begin at 5:45 a.m., the 30-kilometer route at 6:15 a.m., the 15-kilometer route at 7:45 a.m., and the 8-kilometer family route at 8:00 a.m.

How are riders preparing for Sovev Jerusalem 2026?

Refreshment points with water, shade and additional treats will be available along the routes and at the finish area. Repair vehicles will also move along the course to assist riders in case of technical problems or the need for support.

Participant kits will be distributed to registered riders on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the First Station parking lot, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The kit includes the official event shirt and a bicycle number for those who register and pay in advance.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion said: “There is no other city in Israel that offers a cycling experience like Jerusalem. Between the Old City walls, the mountains, the forests and the breathtaking landscapes, Sovev Jerusalem has become one of Israel’s most prominent and exciting sporting events. I invite everyone to take part in a Jerusalem celebration of sport, nature and unity.”

Registration for the event is available in advance on the Sovev Jerusalem website.

More than 5,000 riders are expected to take part at the end of May in one of Jerusalem’s largest and most colorful sporting events: Sovev Jerusalem 2026.
