In a shooting incident that took place overnight between Monday and Tuesday in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem, 22-year-old Hussein Mohammed Dar Issa was killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident is being investigated by the Jerusalem District of the Israel Police as a suspected murder with a criminal motive. It is another in a series of murders in the Arab community in recent days, this time in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the information available so far, Hussein Mohammed Dar Issa was walking down a street in the Silwan neighborhood with his brother when an unidentified person suddenly appeared and opened targeted fire at the two men. Hussein Mohammed was critically wounded and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The victim\u2019s brother, Mohammed, was also evacuated from the scene in light condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports in Palestinian media and on Palestinian social networks, the shooting was carried out following a dispute between members of two families over a failed engagement and mutual accusations that developed as a result. Palestinian social media reports also claimed that the victim had previously been involved in hostile activity during disturbances in the neighborhood and had been detained several times for short periods. However, the police have not confirmed these claims at this stage. Palestinian sources further claimed that Issa was known in the neighborhood as a kickboxing athlete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jerusalem District Police stated: “An investigation was opened overnight into a suspected murder in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem, after the police emergency center received a report of gunfire. A short time later, a wounded 22-year-old resident of East Jerusalem arrived at the hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead. The victim\u2019s brother was also evacuated in light condition. Large forces from the Jerusalem District launched an investigation, located the scene and collected evidence in order to identify those involved in the incident and bring them under arrest. Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Avshalom Peled assigned the investigation to the district\u2019s Central Unit.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
