The city feels dug up in almost every direction: bulldozers, tractors, roadworks, closed lanes, dust, traffic lights that sometimes stop working and are directed manually by road crews, and traffic jams that can turn even a short ride into a tiring journey. Inside this reality, the Bloomfield Science Museum Jerusalem is opening its summer events and offering a cooler space of curiosity, play and discovery.

Over the weekend, the Science Museum Jerusalem launched its summer program in the presence of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, along with representatives of the museum, Mekorot and Arad Water. The main event was the opening of the international exhibition “Point of View” by artist Jonty Hurwitz, presented for the first time in Israel.

What does the “Point of View” exhibition in Jerusalem show?

The exhibition “Point of View” is built around optical illusions, shifting perspectives and works that challenge the way visitors usually see objects and space. Instead of passive viewing, it invites visitors to move, come closer, step back and discover how one angle can completely change what the eye sees.

Alongside it, the interactive water exhibition “The Freedom to Flow” also opened. It is designed to let visitors experiment with the qualities of water, its force and its role in daily life through installations and hands-on activities. The involvement of Mekorot and Arad Water connects the exhibition to broader themes of flow, measurement, infrastructure and the smart use of a basic resource.

Can summer in Jerusalem overcome the traffic jams?

That is the question surrounding almost every summer activity in the city. On one hand, the municipality, museums and cultural institutions are trying to fill July and August with events, exhibitions and activities for children. On the other hand, Jerusalem often looks like a long-running construction site, with infrastructure works, preparations for future transportation projects, road closures, narrowed lanes and delays that test the patience of residents and visitors.

The Science Museum is at least offering a clear destination for families who decide to leave home: one indoor summer activity that combines art, science, water, optical illusions and physical experimentation.

How do you reach a summer exhibition in Jerusalem without getting stuck?

This is no longer just a logistical question, but part of the summer experience in Jerusalem in 2026. Anyone planning to reach the Science Museum Jerusalem should take into account traffic congestion, roadworks and local changes in traffic arrangements across the city. For that reason, indoor and air-conditioned exhibitions of this kind become a relatively convenient option for families, as long as they plan their travel time in advance.

Roni Ben Haim, CEO of the Science Museum Jerusalem, noted at the event: “We are proud to open the summer event and offer visitors an experience that combines science, art, play and discovery. Thanks to our partners and supporters, we can continue creating quality, accessible and inspiring content for diverse audiences and make the museum a place where curiosity meets innovation.”

The event was also attended by artist Jonty Hurwitz, Dr. Yifat Davidof, Jerusalem Municipality CEO Ariella Roguan, Lior Gutman of Mekorot and Eyal Hadar of Arad Water. Now the question is whether Jerusalem families will manage to cross the dug-up city and find, inside the museum, a point of view that is a little less jammed.

Jerusalem is trying to fill the summer with activities for families, children and local visitors, but getting to them is not always simple.
