Jerusalem is no longer merely a city undergoing renewal. At times, it looks like one enormous construction site. Roads are being excavated, traffic lanes are constantly changing, cranes dominate the skyline, and light rail works are affecting large parts of the city. Now, another major project has been added to the growing construction map: the local planning and building committee has approved a full building permit, subject to conditions, for the K Complex in the Jerusalem Gateway district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project, promoted by Amot and Allied, is expected to include a 42-story tower with approximately 102,000 square meters of office and commercial space. An eight-story base will contain street-facing retail areas, with the office tower rising above it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alongside its offices and commercial areas, the plan includes a publicly accessible green roof covering approximately 1,200 square meters. The complex is intended for medium-sized and large companies, technology firms and international corporations, with the aim of expanding employment opportunities in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project was designed by Ron Arad, who also designed Tel Aviv\u2019s ToHa Tower, in collaboration with Yigal Levy Studio. The design is intended to create another prominent building in the developing business district near Jerusalem\u2019s main transport hub, an area already surrounded by roadworks, closures and frequent traffic changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The K Complex is planned to include a direct underground passage to Jerusalem\u2019s Yitzhak Navon railway station. It will also be located close to the International Convention Center, the Central Bus Station and stations serving the Red and Green light rail lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This planned accessibility is one of the project\u2019s main advantages. However, until the entire district is completed, residents, motorists and public transport passengers will continue dealing with large-scale infrastructure works across the capital area. The question of when Jerusalem will stop looking like a construction site therefore remains unanswered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jerusalem Gateway district is planned to cover approximately 1.2 million square meters and combine employment, commerce, public buildings, culture, education and public spaces. According to professional estimates, it could eventually provide around 60,000 new jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion noted that the district \u201cis taking shape as Israel\u2019s new business quarter,\u201d adding that it combines advanced construction with public transportation while preserving Jerusalem\u2019s historic identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yehuda Saban, CEO of the Eden Company for Urban Economic Development, explained that the building permit for the K Complex is \u201canother milestone in the realization of the Jerusalem Gateway district,\u201d and said the project is intended to attract leading companies and create high-quality jobs in the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
