The pursuit of IDF reservists is escalating and reaching vacation destinations in the Far East: last Friday, the Hind Rajab Foundation filed an urgent complaint with the authorities in Vietnam against Matania Jerafi, demanding his immediate arrest over alleged \u201cwar crimes and genocide.\u201d Jerafi serves as CEO of the Im Tirtzu movement, whose offices are located on Pierre Koenig Street in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jerafi is currently in Vietnam on a private vacation, and the complaint is reportedly based on photos, videos and public statements he posted on social media from his prolonged reserve service as a soldier in Battalion 920 of Brigade 769 in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the complaint, the foundation accuses Jerafi of widespread and unlawful destruction of infrastructure and civilian property that he allegedly carried out during his military service in the central Gaza Strip between December 2023 and January 2024. The organization specifically names the Al-Bureij and Al-Maghazi refugee camps, as well as the Shuja\u2019iyya and Rimal neighborhoods in Gaza City, as areas in which he operated. He is also accused of similar alleged acts in southern Lebanon in October and November 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another central element of the complaint concerns allegations of \u201cdirect and public incitement to genocide.\u201d According to the foundation\u2019s complaint, these statements – in which he allegedly called for encouraging emigration from the Gaza Strip, described the civilian population as \u201cpart of Hamas\u201d and opposed the provision of humanitarian aid – were made in the framework of his public role and published directly on the official platforms and advocacy channels of the Im Tirtzu movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jerafi, 39, a well-known public activist, was appointed CEO of Im Tirtzu in late 2024. He manages the movement\u2019s activities, which were established with the aim of strengthening Zionist values, combating post-Zionist trends and curbing the activities of organizations funded by foreign entities, from its main offices in Jerusalem\u2019s Talpiot neighborhood, on General Pierre Koenig Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jerafi served in the Golani Brigade\u2019s combat engineering unit during his mandatory service and has completed approximately 400 days of intensive reserve duty since the outbreak of the war. He holds a bachelor\u2019s degree from Ariel University and a master\u2019s degree in public policy and government from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Last June, Jerafi married his partner Haya, and the couple made their home in the community of Kfar Eldad in Gush Etzion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hind Rajab Foundation, which filed the complaint, is a radical legal organization operating from Belgium and serving as an anti-Israel operational arm. The foundation, established by radical pro-Palestinian activists, has made it its goal to monitor the \u201cdigital fingerprints\u201d of IDF soldiers on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Once a soldier or officer is identified as having left Israel for a country that is a signatory to international conventions, the organization files a timed complaint with local authorities seeking that person\u2019s arrest, as it did with Jerafi in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
