In an article published in late August 2026 on digital platforms and in Arab media outlets under the headline \u201cAl-Quds and the Closure of Al-Aqsa,\u201d Obeidat wrote, referring to Israel: \u201cWe are witnessing a strategy of quietly dismantling the historical, legal and religious status of Al-Aqsa Mosque… gradually moving from managing the conflict to its final resolution through legal and security tools.\u201d In another article, he argued that Israeli policy was leading to \u201cerasing the sovereignty of the Waqf and reshaping religious and symbolic sovereignty over Al-Aqsa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such statements, portraying developments at the compound and Jewish visits there as a \u201cJudaization plot,\u201d are viewed by Israel\u2019s security establishment as direct fuel for public disorder and violence on the streets of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Obeidat\u2019s activity, however, has not been limited to the written word. Over the years, he operated on the ground as a prominent influence agent for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. His history of friction with security agencies, the police and the Shin Bet has been long and extensive. His name has been linked to several criminal and security cases in which he was accused of membership, recruitment and activity on behalf of a terrorist organization.
