Is not just who launched
But who felt it
And who didn’t<\/p>\n
By the holy stones stall
A tourist asks, \u201cIs it real?\u201d
Gets a look that says, \u201cWhat do you think?\u201d
The siren rings
But the question floats longer<\/p>\n
Some peek out from windows
Some don’t bother closing them
In East Jerusalem
A siren isn\u2019t an order
It’s a suggestion
One more sound among many<\/p>\n
The muezzin\u2019s voice
Pauses mid-prayer
Almost collides with the alarm
Sounds like a prayer
With no clear direction<\/p>\n
The policeman across the street
Touches his radio
But says nothing
He doesn’t run
He doesn\u2019t warn
He\u2019s just checking
If someone else already did<\/p>\n
Blue tourist caps
Huddle under a stone arch
Some think it\u2019s a shelter
Others know it\u2019s just a wall
In Jerusalem, even stone doesn\u2019t always protect<\/p>\n

Holds a glass of tea
And watches the siren
