They echo through family road trips, fill Friday morning kitchens, and define the identity of a city and a nation. Yehoram Gaon is one of those voices. And now, Jerusalem is giving that voice a home \u2013 in the heart of the Old City<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"997\"><strong data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"676\">The artist, the legacy \u2013 and the city<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"997\">On July 11, the Tower of David Museum opened a landmark tribute exhibition for Yehoram Gaon \u2013 singer, actor, storyteller and Jerusalem native. In collaboration with the Jerusalem Municipality, this large-scale showcase presents over 70 years of Israeli culture through the lens of Gaon\u2019s personal and artistic journey<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1396\">From early days in the Nahal Band and \u201cThe Roosters,\u201d to his iconic roles in <em data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1086\">Kazablan<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1091\" data-end=\"1110\">Operation Yonatan<\/em>, the exhibition follows Gaon\u2019s life through rare photos, vinyl records, personal belongings and newly produced short films. The entire exhibition is guided by Gaon himself, with a rich audio tour that offers stories, songs and emotional insights in his own voice<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1779\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">(<a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/jerusalem-online.co.il\/jerusalems-summer-fruit-of-peace-returns-with-meaning\/\">Jerusalem\u2019s Summer Fruit of Peace Returns with Meaning<\/a>)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1781\" data-end=\"2132\">Six original video pieces by director Kobi Farag introduce key chapters of Gaon\u2019s life and impact. At the opening event, Moshe Shapira \u2013 father of the late Anar Shapira \u2013 presented Gaon with a hand-drawn portrait set against Jerusalem\u2019s walls and the Tower of David. Postcards featuring the artwork are available to visitors throughout the exhibition<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2134\" data-end=\"2436\"><strong data-start=\"2134\" data-end=\"2160\">From the mayor\u2019s heart<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2134\" data-end=\"2436\">\u201cYehoram Gaon is the soundtrack of Israeli identity,\u201d said Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion. \u201cHis Ladino ballads, his Jerusalem songs, and his artistic soul shaped my life, and the lives of so many in this city. I invite everyone to take part in this powerful, personal journey<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2623\"><strong data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2461\">Cultural reflection<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2623\">Curator Tal Kubo shared: \u201cGaon\u2019s work remains deeply relevant. It reflects the evolution of Israeli culture, and also a longing for a more innocent Jerusalem<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2625\" data-end=\"2819\">Eilat Lieber, Museum Director and Chief Curator, added: Gaon\u2019s voice is not only national \u2013 it is profoundly Jerusalemite.
