During a police operation by Border Police forces in Jerusalem, two separate investigations were opened at the Oz station after vehicles were found transporting illegal Palestinians and hiding them in car trunks. Both drivers claimed they had “just taken hitchhikers”, but the findings at the scene told a different story.
Illegal passengers hidden in a car trunk
Near the A-Zaim crossing, Border Police forces located a suspicious vehicle believed to be carrying illegal Palestinians. The car was stopped, and during the search, five passengers were discovered hidden in the trunk under a blanket. The driver, a resident of Maale Adumim in his 50s, was arrested together with the passengers. According to the initial investigation, he allegedly charged money for the ride.
Arrest in East Jerusalem
In another incident in southern Jerusalem, Border Police located a second vehicle with six illegal passengers hidden in the trunk. The driver, a resident of East Jerusalem, was arrested and taken for questioning at the Oz station together with the passengers.
Jerusalem District Police said: “Illegal entrants who enter Israel unlawfully can serve as a platform for criminal or even terrorist activity. We will continue to act decisively and with zero tolerance against anyone who assists in transporting illegal entrants and endangers public security.”
