He didn’t plant a bomb — he wrote a post
But in every sentence, there was murder
A resident of Beit Fajjar sent a series of violent threats targeting a bereaved mother from Jerusalem, a journalist – and one of the city’s most visible public events: the annual bike marathon
He spoke of a bus bombing, a weapon, a meeting, and blood
Now, after an arrest and investigation, an indictment has been filed

The mother, the journalist – and the marathon

According to the findings of the Judea and Samaria Central Unit (Yamar), the suspect sent repeated messages via Facebook between May 12–22
He threatened the life of a Jerusalem woman whose son fell in Gaza, and the journalist Yedidya Epstein, who had reported on his case and was the one to forward the materials to the police

Among the messages he sent
“I’ll blow myself up on a bus
“See you at the next marathon,”and “Maybe you’d like to buy something interesting from me

The investigation revealed that the suspect had searched for personal information about his targets and saved those details on his phone

Arrested, interrogated – and exposed

The suspect was arrested on May 23, 2025, following intelligence provided by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) to investigators from the Judea and Samaria Central Unit.
Initially denying all allegations, the 26-year-old ultimately admitted that the phone from which the threats were sent belonged to him.

Following the investigation, the evidence was handed over to the military prosecution, which filed a severe indictment under security provisions

A public event – targeted by digital terror

Police emphasized that the threats were not aimed solely at individuals, but at the broader urban fabric.
"The suspect marked the Jerusalem Bike Marathon – one of the city’s most Israeli and international events – as a terror target. This wasn’t just about harming people. It was about spreading fear across the city

When Jerusalem is the target – words become weapons

In 2025, in a city where public events symbolize resilience and life, a Facebook post can become an air raid siren
Writing, images, distribution – these are now part of the weaponry
The next attack doesn’t need to begin in the street. It begins on a screen

Which is why, when threats are made against Jerusalem – they cannot be ignored
They must be stopped. Before it ends differently
