In the heart of Jerusalem, where symbolism meets daily life, even joyous family moments can spiral into danger. This past weekend, two wedding convoys — one near Ein Yael and the other at Hizma checkpoint — brought more than celebration to the roads. They brought chaos
From joyride to public threat
Police surveillance teams spotted the convoys as they moved through Jerusalem’s roads with decorated vehicles, motorcycles — and even horses. But beneath the ribbons and roses, there was reckless driving, illegal maneuvers, and total disregard for road safety

Horses on the road, deafening engines, and unsafe vehicles
In a swift joint operation by Jerusalem District Police, Border Patrol officers, and surveillance units, both convoys were intercepted. Ten vehicles were taken off the road due to severe safety defects. Noise violations were issued for several motorcycles, and even the horses received municipal citations
Alcohol, cellphones – and zero responsibility
Beyond the convoys, police also conducted routine traffic enforcement over the weekend. Around 120 traffic citations were issued, including 14 for mobile phone use while driving. Three drivers were caught with alcohol levels above the legal limit. “The message is clear,” said police officials. “Those who turn joy into danger will face consequences
