Not all returns to normal start in parliament or at the Ministry of Defense – sometimes they begin on the 10th floor of a Jerusalem hospital, between the cries of newborns and a tiny bodysuit reading: “I have a lioness mom

As Operation “Am K’Lavi” ends and a ceasefire with Iran takes hold, Jerusalem’s hospitals resume full operation. Life continues – in the most primal and hopeful way possible

Shaare Zedek: From Shelters to New Life

In an official statement from Shaare Zedek Medical Center, it was announced: “Following the conclusion of Operation ‘Am K’Lavi’ and the Home Front Command’s return-to-normal directive, all hospital activity resumes. Delivery rooms and maternity wards will move out of protected spaces and return to their regular locations on floors 9 and 10

Prof. Ofer Merin, Director of Shaare Zedek, added:“Our teams provided care throughout the war while ensuring safety for both patients and staff. I’m deeply grateful to our staff for their dedication around the clock. Shaare Zedek remains a stable and resilient anchor in Jerusalem

Operating rooms and outpatient clinics will also resume normal function in the coming days

Hadassah: All Appointments Reinstated

Hadassah Medical Center also confirmed full return to activity: “Appointments scheduled from Wednesday onward remain valid. Our staff is contacting patients whose visits or surgeries were canceled to reschedule as soon as possible

Birth as a Symbol of Resilience

Urban health studies show that accessible medical services – especially maternity care – play a critical role in psychological resilience during crises. The continuation of birth processes signals security and hope, even in high-pressure environments. Research in the Journal of Urban Health highlights how operational hospitals help reduce anxiety across entire populations during emergencies

Sociologists stress that childbirth is never purely biological – it’s deeply cultural and emotional. In Jerusalem, each newborn is a quiet act of resistance and renewal

A Simple Gift, a Powerful Message

This week, Shaare Zedek gifted newborns special bodysuits reading: “I have a lioness mom
In the midst of war and anxiety, it was a small gesture with a loud message: life doesn’t just go on – it roars
