During the week, detectives from the Central District Major Crimes Unit, יחד עם Border Police forces and Jerusalem District officers, raided the village of Issawiya in East Jerusalem and arrested 18 suspects, all local residents, on suspicion of involvement in a series of violent robberies targeting Super-Pharm branches across Israel. Investigators believe the group operated as an organized network carrying out repeated criminal acts.
How did the Super-Pharm robbery gang operate?
According to the investigation, the suspects, mostly in their 20s, acted together and were involved in at least 15 violent robberies. In several incidents, force was used against employees and customers, aiming to intimidate and undermine the sense of public safety.
The case had been under covert investigation for months by the Central District’s major crimes unit in cooperation with Super-Pharm’s security division. The probe revealed a consistent and organized pattern of activity, which eventually led to the overt phase and the coordinated raid in Issawiya.
What did police say about the Jerusalem raid?
Central District Commander, Maj. Gen. Amir Cohen, stated: “These are suspects holding Israeli ID cards with a Palestinian identity, who acted to harm the public’s sense of security, instill fear in the public space, and also damage the economy. Police and Border Police forces will continue to act decisively and persistently against crime generators with a clear message – no place is too far.”
Police emphasized that the group functioned as an organized criminal network operating systematically. The suspects are expected to be brought before a court for a remand hearing, and authorities intend to file serious indictments against them.
