What began as a routine patrol by municipal policing officers in central Jerusalem quickly escalated into a major enforcement action targeting drug distribution and suspected stolen goods. A vehicle that raised suspicion led officers to a significant cache pointing to broader criminal activity.

An initial check revealed that the vehicle’s license had expired more than two years ago, prompting officers to conduct a thorough search. Jerusalem District Police stated: “During operational activity by municipal policing officers in central Jerusalem, a vehicle parked under suspicious circumstances drew the attention of officers.”

What drugs were seized in the Jerusalem police operation?

Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of substances suspected to be dangerous drugs, including psychedelic mushrooms, cocaine, crystal meth, DMT, and ketamine. The total weight exceeded half a kilogram, with the drugs divided into individual packages ready for distribution.

Also found in the front seat were two knives, along with cash and checks amounting to tens of thousands of shekels, raising suspicions of organized trafficking activity.

How are the seized phones linked to suspected property crimes in Jerusalem?

In addition to the drugs, police located more than 100 mobile phones and credit cards inside the vehicle. These items are suspected to be stolen and intended for resale as part of a wider criminal network.

The suspect, a 29-year-old Jerusalem resident, was arrested and taken for questioning at the Lev HaBira police station. His vehicle was towed for forfeiture proceedings, and police are expected to request an extension of his detention in court as the investigation continues.
