Saturday nights in the Nahlaot neighborhood are usually associated with quiet alleys alongside crowded streets, residents returning home and visitors moving between the Mahane Yehuda Market and central Jerusalem. This time, however, the routine was shattered by a deadly act of violence that left behind a police cordon, one person dead and another requiring medical treatment.
Officers from the Lev HaBira police station were dispatched to the neighborhood following a report of a violent incident. Upon arriving at the scene, they found two people suffering from stab wounds. Medical teams evacuated both victims to the hospital: one had been stabbed in the hand, while the other was described as being in critical condition. Doctors later pronounced him dead.
According to the police’s initial assessment, the incident is suspected to have a criminal background. At this stage, no details have been released regarding the identity of the victim, his connection to the suspects or the precise circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
